Last Saturday, on 1st October 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the exhibition of India Mobile Congress (IMC), which will be followed by the 5G launch in India by Diwali. Some of the biggest telecom operator’s leaders like Ambani of Reliance, Sunil Mittal of Airtel and Kumar Mangalam of Vodafone Idea accompanied PM Modi at the event held in New Delhi. What Is 5G? 5G Speed In India
5G is the next upgraded generation of telephonic connectivity. The 5G speed in India is expected to be ten times faster than the current 4G. Other than that, 5G in India is also proposed to provide seamless network coverage, a high data rate with low latency and a highly reliable communication system.
5G Launch In India
Expected to be rolling out by the end of October, the 5G launch in India was experienced before its official launch by PM Modi, as he studied the stalls set by various telecom operators about 5G in India, at the IMC exhibit. Having acquired an extra and expensive 700 MHz band, Jio is ahead in the race in terms of coverage, capacity and speed combined with its 3.5 GHz and 26 GHz mmWave bands.

5G Vs 4G
Some of the notable positive differences between 5G Vs 4G services are in their speed, latency and coverage. While 4G has an upload speed of about 500 Mbps, 5G provides an upload rate of 1.25 Gbps. Apart from that, the download speed of 5G is more than double of 4G, from 1 Gbps to 2.5 Gbps. And, while the latency of 4G technology rages in 50 to 60 ms, 5g cuts it down to about 1 ms, providing almost nill buffering time.
With no immediate plans of revising the tariff plan, Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister said that the 5G tariff plans will be in accordance with the current 4G and customers need not be worried about it.
