2021 turned out to be very crucial for the states which are undergoing elections because of the situation of the corona. The assembly elections, 2021 went on in four states and 1 Union Territory, to have the results finally declared on 2nd May. Some of the results were quite expected whereas others come across as a great surprise. Let us check them out to enhance our knowledge about Indian politics.
The Results Of Assembly Elections, 2021
Kerala Elections
The CPIM led LDF or Left Democratic Front took up the power to govern the people of Kerala for the second term from assembly elections, 2021. This has been a new victory for the state as it had always altered between the Left and Indian National Congress. It is the first time the coalition government has been able to achieve itself in the last 40 years. It has been a great success for the party. However, this did not come across as a surprise. The Chief Minister of Kerala had worked his heart and soul during the period of the pandemic.
The LDF won 100 seats in Kerala and was seconded by INC at 42 seats. NDA failed to win any seat and they did not take up a leading stand in any of the seats across the state. Seems like the people of Kerala are quite opposed to the politics of saffronisation.
Tamil Nadu Elections
This state of South India had some concerns over who is going to take up the power for this election. It came out to be that DMK will be holding power in Tamil Nadu by 116 seats. They were closely ranked by AIADMK. Congress took up the third position in the state whereas BJP trailed behind with only 4 seats. The spectacular shows which were led forward in Tamil Nadu by many prominent leaders of NDA came across the country.
It is to be seen whether DMK lives up to its standards or not. The prime minister has already congratulated the party on its win in Tamil Nadu.
West Bengal Elections
This was probably the biggest highlight of the entire show of election. There was a tough fight between the parties of Mamata Banerjee and Narendra Modi. Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress turned out to be the dark horse of this election. Although Bannerjee had been quite popular in West Bengal, it was not expected that she would be able to sweep off every other party in the state. She won by a stunning majority of 215 seats with BJP trailing in 79 seats. Neither Congress nor CPIM was able to save their seats and only 1 seat was won by ISF.
This is supposedly the worst strike as election results on the NDA Government. The central had used every one of their leaders, allotted celebrity seats, and even flown Prime Minister Narendra Modi for speeches and rallies in West Bengal. However, the charisma of Mamata Banerjee remains an X factor in Bengal. There is a small thorn in this garden of success that Mamata Banerjee failed to save her seat in Nandigram. She was defeated by Subhendu Adhikary, her old party member who recently shifted to BJP.
Assam Elections
Assam is going to be governed by BJP for another term. They have won by a majority of 74 seats and closely followed by INC by 50. This had been a tough fight for the BJP to win in Assam especially after the announcement of NRC and CAA. Although they held their fort, there have been some questions about the post of the chief minister. We have to wait till the oath ceremony to know who has been selected as the chief minister of Assam for this session of Election, India.
Puducherry Elections
BJP and AINRC will be forming a coalition government in Puducherry with a majority of 16 seats in the 30 seats election assembly, 2021. This has been a significant victory for BJP although AINRC has won a greater number of seats in the elections. It is to be seen how the party conducts itself in the new territory for the time being.

Some of the results of assembly elections, 2021 have been surprising at the least and quite shocking at the most! These elections are laying foundational grounds for future politics in India. We should be aware of the leaders leading our states towards a better or worse future.
