Charanjit Singh Channi has been unanimously elected as the Chief Minister of Punjab by the legislature of the state. He is all ready to take the oath as the 16th Chief Minister of Punjab on 20th September. The Punjab new CM has been elected by his co-leaders unanimously. The swearing-in ceremony is supposed to take place in Chandigarh. 

Channi has a very strong political presence in the state as he was elected as the three-time MLA from Rupnagar. He will also be the first Dalit Punjab new CM in the state. He is supposed to take over as the former Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh, handed in his resignation.

Deviations In Congress With Internal Scuffle

Ever since Navjot Singh Sidhu has taken over PPCC, Congress has faced a dilemma about the appointment of a new Chief Minister. Amarinder has stated that he has given his resignation from the party because of the humiliation and discontent he had faced in the Punjab Congress. He had submitted his resignation letter to the Governor of Punjab, Banwarilal Purohit. The entire chain of events has been a surprise to the nation as Congress seems like a unified party from its exterior appearance.

Reputation Of The Punjab New CM

Charanjit Singh Channi, the Punjab new CM, had been the Technical Education minister in the state. The Punjab government has informed that Channi had been the Municipal Councilor for three terms. He was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time in 2007. Later he was elected in 2012 and 2017 consecutively. 

There has been a change in the appointment of the deputy chief minister as well. Two deputy chief ministers have been appointed in the state. They are Sukhjinder Randhawa and Brahm Monhindra. Both have extensive experience in the political field as well. They are supposed to take their oath along with Channi on 20th September.
