Warnings regarding the cyclone storm Tauktae have been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for the five coastal states across the country. These states are Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Gujarat. The low pressure and intensifying cyclone storm are expected to affect these states on May 16. The National Disaster Response Force or NDRF has dispatched 53 teams to deal with this Indian cycle, Tauktae.
40 Member Teams Created To Deal With The Cyclone Storm
The NDRF has announced that teams will be deployed on the coasts of these five states to minimize the damage caused by the cyclone. The low-pressure cyclones are usually more dangerous than the amplified ones as they have a greater area of influence over the field of damage. Each team will have 40 expert members, all armed with equipment like tree and pole cutters, medical aid, and other materials of relief. This can help to mitigate the damage which would be caused by this cyclone over the five states as predicted. Even if the damage is extensive, relief can be provided easily if the forces are prepared beforehand for the cyclone storm.
Areas Affected By The Storm Tauktae
The advisories have noted that some of the coastal areas, which have already been warned, will be most affected by this cyclone storm that is forming in the Arabian Sea and adjoining area of the Lakshadweep Islands. It is said that the cyclone will change into a depression by the afternoon of Saturday and will storm over these five areas for consecutively 24 hours. It is also assumed that the storm will intensify and lash on the adjoining coast of Pakistan through the Gujarat borders.
Precautions Taken Against The Storm
The term “Tauktae” has been derived from a term in Myanmar that means “gecko”. This is the first cyclone storm that is going to pass through the Indian coast from the southern region of the country. 142 fishing boats have been asked to return to the shore after the warning of IMD. The cyclone is supposed to have a speed of 40 to 60 km/h, which is quite dangerous for the localities.
Thunderstorms and lightning are expected on these coasts from Saturday. It is also hoped that Indian states will receive the least of damage from cyclone storm, Tauktae.
