Delhi Covid Updates: DDMA New Guidelines Released, Know Here

Delhi has reported 27,561 fresh Covid-19 cases and 40 deaths in the last 24 hours on last Wednesday. Highlights Of the Meeting

  • Restriction imposed will be made more stringent due to spike in Covid-19 cases. No imposition for lockdown will be made for now reported Delhi Disaster Management Authority. (DDMA)
  • Due to rising Covid-19 cases, the DDMA might bring back stringent protocols and strict curbs to break the chain of the transmissible disease. 
  • The DDMA have ruled out an order for privately held offices to switch 100 percent work from home. 
  • Amid the rise in coronavirus cases in Delhi and hike in cases due to the Omicron variant the DDMA has reportedly rolled out new restrictions and imposed a ban on dining out at restaurants. Home deliveries and take-aways are permitted and allowed to operate in full swing.
  • The DDMA meeting over the Covid situation in the National Capital concludes that weekend curfew and night curfew will remain into the picture. As per the new order, e-passes will be valid for “essential goods and services” and for “exempted category”.

Other points To Know

Weekend curfew was imposed in Delhi from 10 pm on Friday to 5 am on Monday. However, the government relaxed the tight restriction on Sunday. 

Earlier the previous week the DDMA granted permission to 100 percent seating capacity in public transport modes such as buses and metro trains although standing passengers were prohibited.

Under the Graded Response Action Plan, a meeting was called to decide on whether to impose a red alert or total curfew. The DDMA might impose the red alert as this comes into force after cases rise and the positivity rate stays over 5 percent for over two consecutive days. The decision was taken at the DDMA meeting attended by CM Arvind Kejriwal and other government officials. 

Motive Behind The Meeting

The motive behind the meeting was to discuss and review the Covid-19 situation and the spike in cases due to the highly transmissible variant Omicron. According to the Delhi Health Department, the city’s positive rate jumped to 23.53 percent, and on Saturday 22,751 fresh cases were recorded which is reportedly the highest in the past 8 months.
