Indians have been suffering from the bout of a pandemic for quite a long time now. It started at the beginning of 2021, and the disease continues to spread even today. There have been some notable events where people have exhibited a great form of noble and generous behaviour. Such was seen when almost 3000 crore rupees were accumulated by the government through the PM care funds last year. It gave rise to other questions as well when the second wave of the pandemic came over India.

Use Of The PM Care Funds

As the second wave started to cause irreparable damage in different parts of the country, there was a severe shortage of oxygen cylinders, oxygen production, and ventilators. Finally, after a huge amount of badgering by the inhabitants, the central government started to use the fund for providing ventilators to the most affected States.

Condition In Punjab

Most of the ventilators received from the PM care funds are completely dysfunctional. One of the hospitals in Punjab informed that out of 320 ventilators, 237 were damaged and are not usable even after repair. Most anesthesiologists are not confident about using these ventilators for patients who are in critical care. A medical college in Patiala has also informed that 48 of the 98 ventilators received by the PM care funds had to be repaired. Another 50 are completely non-functional.

Condition In Maharashtra

Maharashtra has faced the same scenario. Out of the 150 ventilators received by one of the medical colleges and hospitals of Mumbai, each of them is dysfunctional. Out of these, 41 were sent to private hospitals where patients had to face dire consequences on being put under these faulty devices.

Who Is To Be Blamed?

The entire medical administration is under an extreme amount of pressure right now. Although the cases are reducing across the country, we can’t deny that the doctors, nurses, and medical staff have been under the scrutiny of everyone in the country. Some mistakes on their part can be admissible but certainly not from the government. Questions are already being raised about the responsibility of the central government towards the citizens of India.
