After months of continuous demands, the farmers’ protests have reached a new peak in the western part of Uttar Pradesh. Hundreds of thousands of farmers gathered around in the populous state of Uttar Pradesh in order to protest against the contentious farm laws in the nation. It was the biggest rally of farmers to have ever taken place in India and the series of demonstrations will continue in the upcoming days as well. The Kisan Ekta Morcha has informed that the demonstrations and protests will continue until the three farm laws are repealed, as they might take away the livelihood of the Indian farmers.

Muzaffarnagar Sees Farmers’ Uprising For The First Time

Muzaffarnagar saw the accumulation of more than 500,000 farmers at the rally to condemn the government for its role in the farm laws. Uttar Pradesh is one of the most important states in terms of contribution to the agricultural sector. It is home to more than 240 million people. Uttar Pradesh is also considered one of the strongest BJP bases in the nation due to religious reasons. Rakesh Tikait has stated that the involvement of the state in the farmers’ protests is bound to breathe new life into the building revolt in India.

Tikait has added that the Kisan Morcha plans to go to every village in Uttar Pradesh in order to convey the message of being cheated by the Narendra Modi government. The farmers will be educating their counterparts in the other states to ensure that they have mass support on their side.

Longest Spell Of Farmers’ Protests In India

It has been seen that farmers have camped on the major highways of Delhi in order to declare their protest against the new farm laws. This has been the longest-running farmers’ protest in India. Even the short but radical Tebhaga movement could not last as long as the farmers’ protests of 2020-21.
