After a long state of dilemma and pointing fingers, the Central Government of India has sent a final notice to Twitter about its non-compliance with the new norms of Information Technology. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has served a final notice to Twitter about the new rules that were already enforced on 26th May 2021. It has been almost a week, but Twitter has failed to agree with the New IT rules.
The other platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, and WhatsApp have already agreed with the new set of rules directed by the Indian government for their users.
Twitter Has Not Yet Bowed To The New IT Rules
It has not been clear till now from the responses that are provided by Twitter whether it is going to agree with the new rules or not. The Chief Compliance Officer has not received any notice from Twitter about their stand on these rules yet. This has been informed by the ministry of the press very recently.
The notice which has been generated by the Ministry of India has also mentioned that if the platform fails to agree with the New IT rules, it is probable that Twitter will lose its exemption from liability. It might even be barred on the Indian Internet bandwidth.

What Might Happen If Twitter Does Not Agree?
The government of India had provided three months of the social media platform to comply with the rule of the IT segment. Most of the platforms had already agreed with the rules long before the last date. However, Twitter has refused to show any compliance to these rule noting the security and privacy needs of the users. It has also informed that the new rule may violate the personal space of the individuals who are on the social media platform. This has been stressed upon by stating the rule of finding out the person who had been the first generator of a forwarded message.
