Manika Batra, the 6 feet tall table tennis star of India has raised hopes for an Olympic medal after Mirabai Chanu. She is a 26 years old player with roots in Delhi and has been on the covers of some of the greatest sports magazines over time. Manika is the first Indian to win gold in a single event in the 2018 Commonwealth games and also had the honor of bagging a bronze medal in the Jakarta Asiad while pairing up with Sharath Kamal. She has repeatedly proven herself on the field and continues to prove that the Commonwealth win was not just a fluke for her.
Milestones And Achievements Of Manika Batra
Her biggest achievements remain to be the women’s singles gold medal in the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and the bronze medal in mixed doubles at the 2018 Asiad. She had also participated in the Rio Olympics of 2016. The daughter of Sushma Batra and Girish Batra, she has often made India proud in international events. It is expected that this paddler is going to bring glory to the country in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as well.

Game In Tokyo Olympics
Manika Batra is presently ranked 61 in the world. She will be taking on Tin-Tin Ho, who belongs to Great Britain and is ranked around 99 in the world. The opening match of the women’s singles event was quite interesting and Manika had beaten the Brit in the 2015 Commonwealth Championship in Surat. That’s something to be proud of!
Initiation Into The Game
Manika Batra is a Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Arjuna awardee who got into the game due to the influence of her siblings, Anchal and Sahil. She was coached by Sanjay Gupta till 2019. Later she shifted her base from Delhi to Pune in order to be trained by Sanmay Paranjape.
