Concerns increase within the state as the Indian Meteorological Department or IMD predicts rains in the city and the suburban regions of Maharashtra over the next 24 hours. The department has raised an orange alert for the areas which are surrounding Thane, and the neighboring area of Palghar has received a yellow alert as well. This is a tough time for the state as it is already suffering from a large number of cases related to the coronavirus pandemic. The citizens are asked to keep a close eye on the water levels and keep their things packed in case they have to be relocated.
The Predictions Made By IMD For The Next Few Days In Maharashtra
As the IMD predicts rain in the city and other regions surrounding Mumbai, there is an incessant fear of flooding as well. The western parts of Maharashtra, such as Vidarbha, are likely to receive moderate amounts of rainfall over the next two days. The isolated areas near Thane and Mumbai are the areas that are most likely to receive heavy rainfalls.

The weather department has further informed that the heavy rainfall is likely to recede over the next few days. After the first 24 hours, the rains will subside. Even the most affected regions will receive moderate rainfall only by 2nd September.
