Highlights
- Kumbh Mela 2021 was not a requirement in the condition when the country is fighting the pandemic
- Mahakumbh has been responsible for spreading the infection
- The state must stop the proceedings immediately to stop the spread.
The second wave of coronavirus has spread out in the nation. There is a strong wave of the covid-19 virus, and the tragedy has increased throughout the country. During this time, all measures are taken to prevent the further spread of pandemics. Uttarakhand turned out to be a laughing stock by organizing the Kumbh Mela, 2021.
Is Kumbh Mela 2021 Necessary?
The covid-19 pandemic has already reached some of the most intimate corners of the country, and right now, we should be following every social distancing norm. However, the Indian Government took a strange decision to allow the Kumbh Mela to continue with complete dedication in Uttarakhand. The number of cases reached new heights with the progression of the Kumbh Mela, 2021. Such was the situation that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, announced that the Mela should be followed in a symbolic manner only.
The statement against the organization of the Kumbh Mela was raised by Chief Justice R S Chauhan and Justice Alok Kumar Verma of Uttarakhand High Court. Both judges have questioned the validity of Kumbh Mela during times when the entire country is fighting against the pandemic.
Fear Spread Of Char Dham Yatra
The state has also provided permission for the Char Dham Yatra since the last day of Kumbh Mela, 2021. It will be a frightening sight for the entire nation if this event is to be allowed. Many activists have already raised their voices against the Yatra this year. Almost everyone around the country is questioning the need for such a grand religious performance during times of pandemic.
Moreover, the central government does not seem to be bothered about this state of affairs. It has been stated that the last operational features of the Yatra of Mahakumbh will be fulfilled by maintaining the norms of social distancing. Will it be possible to do that without risking the lives of people? Only time will tell.
Lack Of Resources Throughout The Country
Since the shortage of beds in almost every state of the nation, the court has asked the government to sacrifice every other cost and invest it in the needs of healthcare. Anything other than this will lead to the building of more crematoriums across the country. Already there has been overpricing of firewood and other things which are needed to burn the bodies. It is a devastating sight for the largest democracy in the world.
The state of the country is already in rags. There is no administrative structure that is working smoothly at the time. The healthcare system has collapsed sheerly due to the fault of the administration. Working on the episodes and events of Kumbh Mela, 2021 will be nothing more than blasphemy and luxury at the moment.
