Maa Shailputri Puja – Day 1 Of Shardiya Navratri

Shardiya Navratri 2022 starts on the 26th of September and will be the first day of the Navratri festival in India. This nine-day festival is celebrated to rejoice in the victory of god over evil and dharma over adharma. Devotees take blessings of Goddess Durga and her nine forms during the nine days of celebration. The first day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Shailputri. On the first day of Navratri, Kalash Sthapana or Ghatasthapana is also done. 

Goddess Shailputri  Day 1 Of Navratri

‘Shail’ means mountain and ‘putri’ means daughter, Goddess Shailputri is the daughter of mountains. She is known by many names such as Sati Bhavani, Parvati or Hemavati, she is the daughter of Himavat who is the king of the Himalayas.

Goddess Shailputri is a form of Devi Parvati and a reincarnation of Sati. She rides a bull and carries a lotus in one hand and a trident in another. She is the goddess of Root Chakra also called Muladhara Chakra. By worshipping Goddess Shailputri and doing Maa Shailputri Puja, devotees can overcome the ill effects of the moon as the moon is governed by her.

About Kalash Sthapana Or Ghatasthapana 

Ghatasthapana is nothing but an invocation of Goddess Shakti. This is considered to be one of the most significant rituals of Navratri. This is done at the beginning of the grand nine-day festival. The most auspicious time to do this ritual is the first one-third of the day when Pratipada is predominating. It can also be done during Abhijit Muhurat, but ideally, it should be done before Hindu Midday.

The Muhurat for Ghatasthapana on the 26th of September, the first day of Navratri, is on Thursday between from 06:11 AM to 07:51 AM and the Ghatsthapna Abhijit Muhurat is from 11:48 AM to 12:36 PM.

Navratri Day 1

The first day of Navratri will begin with Ghatasthapana and during the maa Shailputri puja, Goddess Shailputri is offered flowers, incense, fruits, Chandan and an oil lamp ( Diya ). This year, Navratri should be celebrated by following all the covid-19 related regulations. The first day of Navratri will bring positivity to your home and mind, you will also start getting rid of all the negative energies encircling you.
