India has seen some great changes in the overall population graph this year. The fifth round of the National Family and Health Survey of India has found that the men-women ratio has turned out for good. For the first time in India, there are more women than men in the nation. The report is very hopeful in the sense that the female foeticide has reduced in the country.
This report was released by the Union Ministry of the nation on 24th November. Amartya Sen, the Nobel Laureate of India had mentioned in the early 1990s that there are missing women in India.
Improving Men-Women Ratio In The Country
In 1990, it was found that there were only 927 women per 1000 men in India. The report of this year shows that the conditions are improving. The results have been skewed in favor of women this year.
The government has released a number of factsheets on the same day which has shown positive results in terms of population. There had been some key indicators on the child and reproductive health of the population. There are 14 states in the nation that have been clubbed in phase two of this survey. The Health Ministry has checked the state of anemia among women and children as well.

Other Indicators In Health
Child nutrition indicators along with the men-women ratio have definitely shown slight improvement. The stunting 38 percent malnutrition value has reduced to 36 percent. The underweight values have reduced from 36 percent to 32 percent as well. The phases have shown that the nation can see some alterations in the positive aspect if enough awareness is caused in this sphere. The Union Territories were also considered in the survey conducted by NFHS.
