The second term of Narendra Modi as PM of India saw different challenges and obstacles for the BJP-led government. But each and every time the ministers in Modi government handled the situation bravely and came out stronger than ever. Does it mean the Modi Government is free of failures and bad politics? Other than the achievement of Modi government, are there any failure of Modi government?

Narendra Modi As PM Of India

Well, Congress does not think so. Recently, the Sonia Gandhi-led Congress party released a report card of the Modi government which showcases the Modi government failure throughout 8 years of their rule.

This article will give you a small glimpse into the failures and the noteworthy achievement of Modi government along with the contributions of Narendra Modi as PM of India in the betterment of the country, i.e socially, politically and economically.

Achievement Of Modi Government – A Tale Of Victory

1. Covid Vaccination And Aayushmaan Bharat

India was hit by a massive Covid-19 pandemic in the first half of 2020. To tackle this grim health crisis, the ministers in Modi government launched Covid vaccination in the country to prevent the death of the masses. Known as the largest Covid vaccination programme worldwide, the Modi Government managed to vaccinate the majority of the population. Reports suggest that about 193 crore doses of the Covid vaccine have been administered throughout the country.

Besides vaccinating the majority of its people, Narendra Modi as PM of India also launched the Aayushmaan Bharat in the wake of the pandemic. Through this scheme, the Modi-led BJP government aims to provide free health access to the underprivileged sections of society.

2. Ram Mandir In Ayodhya

Another worth noting achievement of Modi government is the construction of Ram Mandir in the sacred land of Ayodhya. The year 2020 saw PM Modi setting the foundation for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. As per reports, the temple will manifest itself in its full form by 2023.

3. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

The year 2022 marks India’s 75th year of Independence from British rule. To honour and pay tribute to the unsung heroes of mother India, ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ was launched by Narendra Modi as PM of India. The programme aims to celebrate all those who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom.

4. Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana

Launched in the year 2015 by the Modi government, the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana aims to construct about 2 crore houses in India from 2015 to 2022, for the homeless and the urban poor.

5. Rescue Operations From Afghanistan And Ukraine

Another important achievement of Modi Government was the rescue operations performed by the BJP during the Taliban attack on Afghanistan and also during the war between Russia and Ukraine.

As per reports, the operation Devi Shakti rescued approximately 700 Indian citizens from Afghanistan during the Taliban attack. On the other hand, about 23,000 Indian students along with a few others were rescued safely from Ukraine during the recent war between Russia and Ukraine.

Failure Of Modi Government – Challenges And Disputes

1. Rising Inflation

The Sonia Gandhi-led Congress criticized Narendra Modi as PM of India as the sole responsible for the current rising inflation. Besides, the opposition party also pointed out the increase in prices of fuel on a regular basis during Modi’s reign as PM of India.

2. Unemployment

Another major failure of Modi Government is its inability to generate more employment in the country throughout its course as the democratic ruler. The Modi government failure lies in the fact that though Modi had promised, during the election campaigns, that he would provide two crore jobs every year. He failed miserably to keep his words. The report card released by Congress puts forth that the unemployment rate in India is about 7.9%, which is utterly disappointing. If the current trend continues, the day is not far away when India will again fall prey to extreme poverty.

3. Hate Politics

Another Modi government failure that has earned several criticisms and backlash from the opposition and the public is the unsolved system of hate politics. In recent times, communal harmony has crumbled to pieces and riots and conflicts among different communities have become a common scenario.

4. India’s Economy And GDP Growth

Though BJP had promised ‘Achhche Din’ to its people, it failed to provide the same. According to reports, the GDP growth of our country is facing a severe downfall. India’s economy is at stake. Congress says that the Indian currency is going through a tough phase. A steep downfall has been noticed for the INR. ‘In May 2022, rupee witnessed its steepest fall of Rs 77.81 per American dollar’.- Congress commented.

5. India-China Border Dispute

The Modi Government has again proved itself incapable of providing minimum security to its countrymen. India- China border dispute is a failure of Modi government in recent times. Though the report says that China managed to capture parts of India- such as Gogra and Hot spring in Ladakh, the Modi government did not take any major steps against such foreign invasion.

Challenges Ahead

The Narendra Modi-led BJP government throughout its 8 years in democracy could manage to win the hearts of many. Assam has been a major achievement of Modi government as Narendra Modi was able to form a government there for the second time in a row.

Additionally, West Bengal also gave new hopes to BJP. Though it failed to win there, the number of votes jumped from three seats to a whopping 75. The year 2022 has been a success for BJP but several challenges still need to be solved.

Even now communal riots, corruption, illiteracy among the poor and the girl child, poverty and unemployment have been major social issues in the country hampering India’s growth and development. The Modi government needs to shift its focus to these sensitive areas as well.

Conclusion

Thus, it is clear that though the Modi government has done a lot for the betterment of India and its people, more needs to be done. A developing country like India needs more attention and care to prove itself better before its neighbours. India has a lot of potential. One just needs to  understand its strengths and weaknesses and work towards the same to make India a world power in the years to come.
