Which Are The Dog Breeds Banned In Ghaziabad?

The names of the three dog breeds banned in Ghaziabad are Pitbull, Rottweiler and Dogo Argentino. The municipal corporation of Ghaziabad has said that the license for keeping these dogs will not be issued anymore and if someone still keeps these dog breeds, they will be they’re sole responsibility.

The residents who have these breeds already are required to sterilize the dogs within two months, in order to receive registration certificates.

Why Are Dog Breeds Banned In Ghaziabad?

This decision is taken in light of all the reports regarding Pitbulls and other banned ferocious dogs attacking small children. According to the Mayor, close to more than 10 children have become victims to severe dog bites.

One child even had to get 150 stitches on the face. The increased complaints of dogs attacking and mauling people from several residential complexes have led to this extreme measure.

What Are Other New Guidelines For Pet Owners?

Some other rules and new guidelines for pet owners, issued by the GMC, are:

  • Dogs are required to wear a muzzle when in public.
  • Pet dogs should be taken out only through service lifts by pet owners living in high-rise buildings.
  • Pet owners need a licence for all of their pet dogs, starting this November 1st, within two months.
  • Heavy fines will be imposed on dog owners if Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam receives complaints from the residents of the RWA.

Conclusion

This is not the first instance when such a decision has been taken. Previously, the Kanpur Municipal Corporation and Panchkula Municipal Corporation had Rottweiler and Pitbull banned as pets.
