Is it not painful to see people turning their backs on sportsmanship? That is what happened when Nikhil Kamath came face to face with the chess champion Viswanathan Anand. The All India Chess Federation has informed that it was very unfortunate that the co-founder of Zerodha used unfair means of competition when he went against Anand in a charity chess match. Viswanathan Anand has been the world champion five times and it was indeed very surprising to see how a novice defeated him in a Covid-19 relief match. Now, we come to know that Anand did not lose his edge!
Statement Of AICF Secretary
It was proclaimed by the All India Chess Federation (AICF) secretary, Bharat Chauhan, that it was very unfortunate that a person tried to cheat in a charity chess match. They did not expect anyone to commit this unlikely act in a match that was intended for charity. The Federation often puts up cameras in different places of the room so that no one is able to break the protocol. Moreover, a fair play committee is always appointed in their matches, containing three grandmasters and at least two players.

Kamath On The Charity Chess Match
Everything came to light when Nikhil Kamath himself posted that it is ridiculous to think that he would ever be able to defeat Viswanathan in a match of chess. He had confessed light-heartedly that he had help from other people and computers during his charity chess match against the five-time world champion. Viswanathan himself retweeted the post made by Kamath. However, his point was that although the match was friendly, he had played his position on board. This shows how dedicated a man is towards a game he loves!

What Do You Think Should Happen?
Bharat Chauhan has added that Kamath is not a regular club player and is banned from any future matches. Although he has apologized in public and has never been a professional player, such an incident is quite unfortunate. This has been especially wrong in a charity chess match that was organized to uphold the ideals and ethics of the game and help those who have suffered due to Covid-19.
