Zelensky At Grammy: Insignificant Leader Giving His Best To Save People

The biggest news this year at the Grammy 2022, held in Las Vegas on 3rd April, was not made by any musicians or celebrities. Instead, it was made by a surprise visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. President Zelensky at Grammy 2022 made a powerful and emotional speech through a taped message he recorded in a bunker in Ukraine. Addressing the room full of artists dressed in shiny costumes, he said, ”Our musicians wear body armor instead of tuxedos.” And reminded people of the war going on in Ukraine. He asked the watchers to support Ukraine by spreading the truth.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech, decent and powerful, promptly moved the state of mind of the award ceremony being held in Las Vegas. Wearing his staple T-shirt and talking in English, he portrayed the destruction Russia had caused. He even included the disturbing fact that 153 kids have been killed in the conflict. 

The president stressed the power of sound-how the war and the deaths caused by it are leading to painful silences, how shouting out can save lives. “The war doesn’t let us choose who survives and who stays in eternal silence,” said one line in his powerful address.  He talked about the musicians of Ukraine, who  “sing to the wounded in hospitals, even to those who can’t hear them.” He additionally called for watchers “tell the truth about the war on your social networks and TV”- a significant ask, considering that Russia’s pretenses of the conflict are shrewdly spread lies.

Zelensky has been constantly outspoken in social events globally trying to get help for his country since it was attacked by Russian military powers in February. Zelensky asks 'every free person' to stand with ukraine

Zelensky said in his speech “Support us in any capacity you can. Any – yet not quiet “. “Then, at that point, harmony will come to every one of our urban communities the conflict is annihilating – Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Volnovakha, Mariupol, and others. Mika Newton, John Legend, Siuzanna Iglidan at grammy 2022

The President’s speech was followed by a performance of “Free” by the artist John Legend. During his Grammys set, Legend was joined by a few Ukrainian performers, including Siuzanna Iglidan, initially from Odesa; Mika Newton, whose sister is serving in the Ukrainian armed forces; and Lyuba Yakimchuk, who escaped Ukraine days earlier. In front of an audience, they wore either blue or gold – the shades of the Ukrainian banner.

As John Legend sang:  “Rain down freedom until we’re all free”, on an enormous screen behind the performers streaked pictures of a bombarded apartment complex,  government buildings set ablaze, families swarmed into a tram station that is being used as a hideout, kids being stacked onto departure trains and a crying mother.

Other Award Show That Discussed The War

The Grammys is the most recent TV award show to give recognition to Ukraine after the Academy Awards had acknowledged the attack a week ago. At the Oscars, crowd individuals noticed a few moments of quietness while a message of fortitude appeared onscreen.
