Delhi is facing a period of severe alcohol shortage and this has been affecting several people. 260 liquor shops have shut down for good on 30th September. 600 government liquor shops will be open till 16th November, until the licensed shops are ready to open for business.

The new excise policy will be functional from 16th November, and after this date, only authentic dealers will be able to trade in alcohol. This has led to an imminent liquor crisis in the national capital of the country. The new policy has been decided by the state government. It is expected that the liquor policy will bring some changes to the system.

The Excise Policy On Liquor Trade

The state government of Delhi is removing itself from the liquor business. The new policy has made sure that the private parties have the license to run 850 alcohol stores in 32 different zones. Each of these zones is likely to have 8 to 10 wards. This means that the zone will have about 27 liquor selling points on average.

The stores will be designed in such a manner that they are spacious and modern. The period of transition has been introduced in the national capital in order to bring development to Delhi.

The 45 Days Transition Period Leads To Liquor Crisis

The 45 days transition period has led to a liquor crisis, which can be very difficult for the customers and the governmental sources. The chain of supply and demand will be disrupted and it might become tough to meet the needs of all citizens who are seeking alcohol.

Only 600 government shops will be present in the national capital to meet the demands of people. It seems that the government is not ready to deal with this burden. Efficiency within the transition period is wanted, but it is highly doubtful whether the government will be able to achieve it or not.
