It has been reported by several sources that hundreds of children had to be admitted to the hospitals of West Bengal. Viral infection in Bengal is spreading like wildfire in the districts like Jalpaiguri, Malda, and Uttar Dinajpur. Six of these admitted children have already died. This has led to a state of fear and panic within the entire state.
The emerging situation has been addressed by the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Mamata Bannerjee has discussed the condition with the Health Secretary of the state, Narayan Swaroop Nigam. It has been informed that there is no need to panic as this is not a new form of infection within the state.
Viral Infection In Bengal Dealt By Experts
The health officials have informed that most of the children were affected by Influenza B and RS Virus. These cause respiratory distress among the children who are suffering from some kind of another ailment as well. It has also been seen that these viruses tend to attack children who are relatively malnourished.
The state has mentioned that they have adequate infrastructure to deal with the severity of the situation. Children who have been affected are being tested by an expert team of doctors from North Bengal.
