India has already started to get its share of the omicron cases. Six omicron cases in Maharashtra have been found to the concern of the authorities. It is hoped that the people suffering from the omicron variant have not spread it to the other people in the nation.
The tally of the total number of people suffering from the omicron variant has reached up to 54. Four of the cases were picked up at the Mumbai airport. The other cases were picked up in the rural areas of Pune. 28 of the patients have been discharged till now since the authorities thought it to be correct.
Six Omicron Cases In Maharashtra Found
The civic authorities have informed that the four people who were found with the variant in the Mumbai airport were not residents of the state. All of them have been traveling from other states. The four were found to be positive in the test conducted in the airport.
The six omicron cases in Mumbai which constituted four of these patients were shifted to the SevenHills Hospital in Andheri. The samples which were collected from these people were sent for genome testing as well. The National Institute of Virology in Pune confirmed the variant on Sunday.

Genome Sequencing After RTPCR
Six omicron cases in Maharashtra have been found because the government had issued rapid RT PCR tests in the airports. This has helped to identify the people who are suffering from the disease. At the same time, they had also made sure that samples were sent for genome sequencing in order to verify the identity of the people. This will also help to trace back the way in which these people have contracted the infection in the very first place.
Along with this, 600 samples were sent for testing at the Virology Institute. It has been found that 54 out of these samples are suffering from the variant.
