Talks Flourish About The J&K Statehood Restoration In India

After a long delay, it has been announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will discuss Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. He is supposed to meet the political parties associated with the scenario of Jammu and Kashmir quite soon. This will be considered as one of the most important steps to be taken by the Indian leadership for Jammu and Kashmir. The National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval has helped create the strategy for restoring J&K statehood.

The sources that have disclosed this information have stated that although there have been discussions about granting statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, the state’s special status might not be restored anytime soon. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and Home Minister, Amit Shah, have already talked about these issues of J&K statehood long ago. It is quite heartening to see that action is finally being taken.

Revoking Article 370 And The Special Status

On the 5^th August of 2019, by revoking Article 370, the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was revoked. The state was divided into two Union Territories. Jammu and Kashmir were provided with a legislative assembly, but the same was not constituted in the Ladakh province. Many restrictions were placed on the political leaders and activists of the Kashmir valley. Most of the activists were arrested without any prior notice. However, with time, the prisoners were released under detention.

J&K statehood will be restored in order to improve the lives of the people living there. It is a common notion that life in Jammu and Kashmir is no longer normal because of the continuous conflicts which are taking place in the state. The illegal organizations which have grown like mushrooms all over the state have threatened security and peace to a major extent.
