Raksha Bandhan is celebrated as a sign of responsibility between siblings. The event is intended to honour all forms of non-biological brother-sister relationships between men and women. But, one question remains, why we tie rakhi?

Rakhi is representative and symbolic of the bond of protection between a brother and a sister. It is a talisman. It symbolises security, care, and safety. It is tied to a brother’s right wrist by their sister and is meant to represent protection against difficulties in the next year.

Rakhi Is Tied On Which Hand?

Which hand should a rakhi be tied on is the most frequent query. It is the brother’s right hand that has a rakhi tied to it. Hence, the Rakhi is, according to customs, worn on the right hand of a brother. Usually, the left hand has a negative connotation in Hinduism. It is usually viewed as unlucky.
