Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the largest events celebrated across the expanse of Maharashtra. Most of the films based in Mumbai and the surrounding cities have almost always included scenes depicting the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi. The saga of celebration has been subdued in the times of coronavirus pandemic to a large extent. Celebrations have been stopped in the national capital of the country as well.
However, the cities of Maharashtra saw the gathering of thousands of people for the celebration of Ganesh Visarjan. Groups of people could not be stopped from dancing to the beats of the traditional musical instruments during the Ganesh Visarjan by the rigid norms of social distancing.

Large Number Of People In Ganesh Visarjan Venues Of Mumbai
19th September saw the gathering of thousands of devotees from different parts of Maharashtra, coming together to have a last glimpse of the large Lord Ganesha effigy on the day of Ganesh Visarjan. The administration of the state has imposed strong restrictions in the entire area in order to avoid the accumulation of large groups of people to immerse idols. Mumbai, as usual, has seen the largest number of people gathering in each of the districts.

Flouting The Rules Of The Social Distancing
Covid-19 appropriate behavior had been imposed throughout the state during the Ganesh Visarjan ceremony to keep up the norms of social distancing. Designated immersion venues were filled up with thousands of people and a large number of idols were immersed in these places. Udhhav Thackeray, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, had asked the people earlier to strive to stop the spread of the virus. The impending fear of the third wave has not completely left yet. Such large gatherings may lead to its immediate onset.
