The rising population of India has always been a concerning factor for all politicians who have tried to bring some form of development into the nation. Out of this, Uttar Pradesh has been the most infamous state in terms of contributing to the large population of India. There have been many comparisons about the population in Uttar Pradesh with other countries in the European continent. The recent UP population control policy aims to reduce this steady increase in the total population. As per this new bill, government subsidies will not be granted to any family with more than 2 children.

Yogi Adityanath Takes Dramatic Measures For UP Population Control 

The Uttar Pradesh Population Control bill has been changed with the permission granted by the Uttar Pradesh government. This has been done primarily to create an impact in the upcoming state elections. It is being speculated that the bill is targeted towards the Muslim community which is known for having more than 2 children in their families.

The draft which has been proposed for UP population control has suggested that any family with more than 2 children will be barred from applying for any kind of government job, will not be offered any kind of government subsidy, and cannot contest in any kind of election processes. Access to government-sponsored welfare schemes is also barred for people who have more than 2 children.

Controversies Arising Against The Bill

The zest for population control has gone so far that the government will now be providing incentives to those who have taken up voluntary sterilization. This has stirred up controversies as the new bill might remove many prospective political competitors from the chart. The child-care facilities along with government subsidies cannot be fixed for the couples who were not aware of the new bill. Most of the opposition leaders have called this endeavor to be a form of “forced population control”.
