US Service Members Attacked Near Kabul Airport; Many Lives Lost

It has been confirmed that several US service members have died in the explosions that took place near Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan. Nearly 5400 U.S. service members are helping with evacuation efforts in the Afgan capital.  About 1000 British troops are assisting in the evacuation efforts. The Ministry of Defence in the U.K. reported that there were no casualties from the British troops after the attack on Kabul Airport.

The attack caused a lot of other consequences. A meeting scheduled for 11:30 p.m. ET between Biden and the Prime Minister of Israel at the White House has been postponed.

From The Eyes Of Witnesses

The witnesses reported that the explosion was huge and that there were gun fires as well. The U.S. embassy in Kabul had previously issued warnings for Americans to stay away from the Kabul airport as it was a red zone for the Taliban.

Evacuation Reports From Kabul Airport 

Mass evacuations have been conducted to evacuate around 96,000 people since August 14. In the last 24 hours, 13,400 people have been evacuated by the western forces.

Around 101,000 people have been rescued and evacuated since July end, out of which there were almost 4,500 U.S. citizens and their families. There might be 1500 Americans still left in Afghanistan.

It was reported that the US service members are still reaching out to the Americans in Kabul through different modes of communication, and asking them if they still want to leave. They are also giving instructions on how to leave.

Risks Of Staying Longer In Afghanistan

No one can predict anything anymore. Anything can happen at any time in Afghanistan. The US President had warned that continuing to stay in Afghanistan carries some very serious risks for foreign civilians. ISIS-K is a growing threat in Afghanistan as well.
