Virat Kohli recently gave a statement that was shocking for his fans. He announced that after the ICC Men’s T20I world cup, he will resign from the post of the T20 captain. He announced this through one of his Instagram posts.
What Is The Reason Behind “Virat Kohli Resign”?
As mentioned earlier, Virat Kohli announced this through a long Instagram post. He mentioned that the main reason is that he wants space for leading the ODI and Test Teams. By resigning from the position of T20 Captain, he would be able to completely focus on the ODI and Test Teams. This is the reason for “Virat Kohli resign”.
Virat Kohli further stated that he came to this decision after a very long discussion with Rohit Sharma, BCCI, and team management. BCCI said that there was no pressure on Virat Kohli and it was his own decision. Virat Kohli in his Instagram post further said, “I have been fortunate enough to not only represent India but also lead the Indian Cricket team to my utmost capability. I thank everyone who has supported me in my journey as the Captain of the Indian Cricket Team. I couldn’t have done it without them – the boys, the support staff, the selection committee, my coaches, and every Indian who prayed for us to win.”
Kohli might not have scored any century since 2019, but his contribution is immense. He might be the only batsman with an average that is fifty-plus in all three formats. In the fourth test against England, the victory was the result of his strict captaincy. Even international cricket experts commended the captaincy of Virat Kohli and the way he led the team, which led to wins in the test matches. It is not wrong to say that he is indeed an incredible captain.

I have given everything to the team during my time as T20 Captain and I will continue to do so for the T20 Team as a batsman moving forward.”
The Kohli-led team was very close to win the ICC test championship but unfortunately lost to New Zealand. The last ICC trophy won by India was under the captaincy of M.S. Dhoni.
