Akshay Kumar was born in a Hindu family to his mother Aruna Bhatia and his father Hari Om Bhatia. He was born on 9 September 1967 in Amritsar, Punjab.
Akshay Kumar's real name is Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia. After doing a 10 second cameo in movie Aaj, he was so inspired from Kumar Gaurav's on-screen name that he adopted it as his screen name.
Akshay Kumar has taken martial arts training and learned combat sports in Bangkok, Thailand. He also has a black belt in Taekwondo.a
During his training in martial arts in Thailand, he has also worked as a waiter and chef.
Akshay Kumar made his debut as a lead actor in Saugandh in 1991. Before that he has done small role in movie Aaj (1987).
Akshay Kumar has worked in 8 Khiladi movies namely Khiladi (1992), Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Bada Khiladi (1995), Khiladi Ka Khiladi (1996), Mr and Mrs Khiladi (1997), International Khiladi (1999), Khiladi 420 (2000) and Khiladi 786 (2012). And this is why he is called the Khiladi of Bollywood.
