What Is the Story Of Mahavir?
Mahavir left his family and the royal household at the age of 30, gave up all of his worldly things, including his attire, and became a monk. To control his wants and feelings, he spent the following twelve years in intense quiet and meditation. He went for lengthy lengths of time without eating. He took great care not to injure or upset other living things, such as animals, birds, and plants. His meditation practises, days of austerities, and general demeanor set a lovely example for monks and nuns in monastic life.
For twelve years, he was on a spiritual quest. He attained perfect perception, wisdom, power, and happiness in the end. Keval-jnana is the name given to this revelation. He spent the following thirty years walking throughout India barefoot teaching the timeless truth he had discovered to the masses. Rich and poor, monarchs and commoners, princes and priests, men and women, touchables and untouchables, he drew people from all walks of life.
He divided his disciples into four groups: monks (Sadhu), nuns (Sadhvi), laymen (Shravak), and laywomen (Shravak) (Shravika). They are afterward referred to as Jains. His teaching’s ultimate goal is to show people how to break free from the cycle of birth, life, suffering, misery, and death and establish a permanent joyful state of being. Liberation, nirvana, perfect freedom, or Moksha are all terms used to describe this state.
Lord Mahavir died at the age of 72 (527 B.C. ), and his cleansed spirit departed the body and attained total nirvana. He attained the status of Siddha, a pure awareness, a freed soul, eternally blissful. Everyone celebrated the Festival of Lights (Diwali) in his honor on the night of his salvation.

Noble Vows Of Lord Mahavir
Mahavir adhered to the beliefs of his predecessor, Tirthankara Parshvanath. Mahavir did, however, restructure the philosophical principles of Jainism to fit his times.
