1st Day of Diwali Dhanteras

The 5 days of Diwali begin with the first day known as Dhanteras. Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth) is worshiped on the day of Dhanteras and And it is customary to buy valuables like jewellery, new clothes and utensils.

2nd Day of Diwali Choti Diwali

The second day of Diwali week is called the Choti Diwali (Day before Diwali)and In some parts of India, it is also called Narak Chaturdasi or Kali Chaudas.

On this day, people visit each other's house to wish 'Happy and Proper Diwali and also exchange gifts and sweets.

3rd Day of Diwali

The main celebration of Diwali takes place on the third day and Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth) is worshipped along with Lord Ganesha on this day.

The houses are decorated and lit with diyas, candles and lights to symbolize the victory of good over evil and light over darkness.

4th Day of Diwali Govardhan Puja

The fourth day is Govardhan Puja or Padwa and is dedicated to Lord Krishna as he defeated Indra by lifting the huge Govardhan mountain. People make a small hill usually out of cow dung, the symbol of Govardhan, and worship it.

5th Day of Diwali Bhai Dooj

The 5th day is called  Bhai Dooj where siblings get together and perform tikka ceremony and show their love for each other and exchange gifts, sweets and blessings
