It is a very surprising turn of events that the BJP government has somehow decided to promote leaders who have criminal cases against them. The last cabinet reshuffle had been arranged to present the party in a new light after the government’s dismal performance during the pandemic. 33 out of the total 78 ministers who have been appointed in the cabinet have criminal cases lodged against them. That is, almost 42% of the cabinet is composed of ministers with criminal cases.

Details Of Ministers With Criminal Cases

Out of the 33 ministers with criminal cases, four of them have murder charges against them. These are classified as cases of “attempt to murder”. These four ministers include Pankaj Chowdhury, V Muraleedharan, John Barla, and Nitish Pramanik. 24 ministers have either murder or robbery charges against them. 7 ministers also have cases of electoral violations against them.

Around 43 MPs had taken oaths during the cabinet reshuffle. Fifteen new cabinet ministers and 28 new ministers of state were sworn in. The strength of the cabinet has come up to a startling 78 out of which 42% of ministers have criminal case against them.

Unsettling Choice By BJP Government

Nitish Pramanik has been appointed as the Minister of State for Home Affairs. He has a murder case lodged against him under IPC Section 302. He is just 35 years old and is celebrated as the youngest cabinet member in this government. It has also been found that 90% of the ministers have at least 1 crore INR worth of property in their declared assets. High asset ministers are said to have more than 50 crore INR in terms of their declared properties. All of this strikes a nervous chord among the people of the country.
