Remembering Bhagat Singh: Unknown Facts About The Unbroken Martyr

Bhagat Singh was one of the many revolutionaries who stood up for India’s freedom struggle. Born in a Sikh family in Punjab (currently in Pakistan), he was hanged to death at the young and tender age of 24 years old! But, still, his actions continue to encourage and inspire the youth to stand up for their own country! On the auspicious occasion of Shaheed Diwas 2022, Indians pay tribute and honor the real-life hero for his selfless service towards his country. Facts About Bhagat Singh – The Young And Brave Martyr Of India 

On the event of Shaheed Diwas, a day that is dedicated to remembering Bhagat Singh, along with Sukhdev and Rajguru, we bring to you a list of facts and stories about the young Shaheed that you did not know earlier. 

1. Bhagat Singh was born on 28 September, in the year 1907, in a Sikh family in the then Punjab ( currently in Pakistan), in the Banga village of the Lyallpur district. 

2. Often during his childhood days, he was more interested in guns than other toys and games. He always dreamt of a free India- an India free from the oppression of British rule. 

3. He did not complete his academic career and left school at the young age of 14. Despite that, he was an intelligent person and had a huge passion for gaining knowledge. He left his school to take part in India‘s struggle for freedom.

4. He was so disappointed and sad with the incident of the terrible Jalianwala Bagh Massacre that he missed his school and visited the place where the ground was soaked with the blood from innocent Indians. 

5. Besides being a knowledgeable person, he was also a very good actor of his time. He participated in various plays and dramas namely Rana Pratap, Samrat Chandragupta, and others. 

6. Bhagat Singh had a keen interest in radical socialist ideologies and ideas led by Lenin. He was also drawn towards Marxist doctrines and principles!

7. He fled away from his home to escape his marriage and later joined the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association. He was so dedicated to his goal of freeing India from the oppressors that no earthbound pleasures could distract him.

8. He was a great writer who wrote for the Veer Arjun newspaper and the Kirti Kisan Party. 

9. In the year 1929, legend Bhagat Singh along with his associates bombed the Central Legislative Assembly and chanted the powerful and inspiring slogan, “ Inquilaab Zindabaad! “.

10. On 23rd March 1931, Bhagat Singh, along with Sukhdev and Rajguru were hanged to death in charge of killing Assistant Superintendent John Saunders.
