What even is life without friendships? As the saying “a friend in need is a friend indeed” goes, a friend is someone whom you can turn your back on, and yet their eyes will look at you with happiness and love. To be honest, there are no words that can accurately describe what a friend means in our lives. No matter which part of the world you go to, friendship remains a cherished concept.

In this world where everyone loves the fake and appeasing outer package and doesn’t care about who the person is from the inside, a true friend is the one who looks past that outer cover loves us for who we are and makes us realize our true worth. Let’s celebrate this bond on Friendship Day this year and cherish those true friends.

The Day Of Cherishing Your Friends

Even though each day is an ideal day for cherishing your near and dear ones, friendship day holds a special significance. Historically, friendship day was celebrated on July 30. Some Asian countries and the United States celebrate this day in the first week of August.

History Of Friendship Day

Consider a group of friends coming together and spontaneously coming up with the idea of celebrating their years of friendship. Well, that is kind of what happened in this case! The concept of friendship day was first introduced by the patron of hallmark cards, Joyce Hall. After a while, people realized that this was just a tactic for them to sell their products, and then the tradition died.

After a few years, Dr. Ramon Artemio Bracho with his friends wanted a day to celebrate friendship without any boundaries. On April 27, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly declared July 30 as official International Friendship Day. They took this event quite seriously and made sure to include all the member states’ traditions and customs so that no one would feel left out.
