- Black Widow starring Scarlett Johansson has been criticized by people around the globe, as the character and the movie did not make any strong impact.
- The movie has been made for the sake of it and does not have any surprising elements.
The movie is one of the Marvel Cinematics Universe’s most overlooked characters. It was first introduced in Iron Man 2 in a sadly sexualized manner, as a superspy. However, this character was given more depth and significance in the MCU through Captain America and Avengers movies. Black Widow’s heart-wrenching death happened because she sacrificed herself in Avengers Endgame, and this was one of the very few main character deaths in the Marvel Universe.

The Release Of Black Widow
Marvel’s very latest creation “Black Widow” is a prequel that was designed to give Natasha a.k.a the Black Widow her standalone film. This movie tells the story of Black Widow’s origin. We all have listened to words like Drakov’s daughter, Budapest, the Red Room, etc. in various MCU movies. All of these were explained in this movie. This movie features Scarlett Johansson in the title role, and it is directed by Marvel’s first female director, Cate Shortland.
As the movie was released on the 9th of July, people were excited to witness what gem Marvel has come up with once again. But to their disappointment, the movie was rather bland. It can be clearly seen that this movie was made just for the sake of it and because fans were demanding a final farewell to their beloved character. The movie did not add anything essential to the MCU and failed to add any depth to the character as well.
A Short Overlook Of The Movie
The movie is set in the time between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Romanoff is on a frantic run from General Ross, who continues his crusade to round up the Avengers who defied the Sokovia Accords. Now, she has to make contact with the people she abandoned in her life, and team up with them once again to make amends for her past and eventually bring down the Red Room that created her. The movie follows the blueprint of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
The movie has many forcefully included action sequences, which seem like they were added just for the sake of it, and not as an element that will glorify the character or even give an authentic plot to the movie. This movie, just like any other Marvel movie, came up with a villain, the Taskmaster. This particular character is a relentless, brutal, and mind-controlled assassin who is linked with the Black Widow’s past.

The movie did not portray anything above expectation. The slow development of the main character, Black Widow, shows how not-so-willingly this movie was made.
Conclusion
The movie was not enjoyed by many. The movie had no surprises to give. A movie that was supposed to be dedicated to a well-loved character as a farewell, resulted in one of the MCU’s greatest failures. Natasha Romanoff deserved better than what has been portrayed in the movie.
