Statement By Kc Venugopal On Fuel Prices
On Wednesday, KC Venugopal stated that it is absolutely heart-wrenching to see how people across the country are struggling to buy the basic amenities like fuel for travel and food. The present government is not at all concerned about the economic slowdown and the continuous upward spiral of the prices of cooking fuels across the country. It has been seen during the pandemic that the country had a severe shortage in the total number of medicines and other medical facilities. On the other hand, ordinary people continue their distress by paying large amounts of taxes on fuel prices.
Compared to the UPA regime, the BJP government has increased the excise duty on petrol by 23.87 INR per liter and diesel by 28.37 INR per liter. It can also be gauged from the petrol and diesel price hikes over the last few months that the values have increased abysmally over the previous 13 months of the Modi regime. This was alleged by the Congress leader KC Venugopal.
