- Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
Independent India’s first Prime Minister, Nehru played a significant role in the freedom struggle. Jawaharlal Nehru studied at Harrow in the United Kingdom. It was one of the premium schools in Britain. After completing his course there, he studied at Trinity College in Cambridge where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in Natural Science. Nehru has also studied Law at Inner Temple in London.
- Dr. B. R. Ambedkar
Dr. Ambedkar is a renowned personality in India and his works for the Dalit community are truly commendable. Ambedkar had pursued many degrees from different institutions due to his keen interest in learning. Dr. Ambedkar pursued a degree in economics from the Bonn University of Germany. Venkata Giri was India’s fourth president and a renowned activist of Independent India. He had a keen interest in law because his father, freedom fighter Jogayya Panthulu was a lawyer. Venkata Giri did his basic studies in Berhampur, where he was enrolled in Khallikote College. He later went to Dublin to pursue a career in Law.
- Sarojini Naidu
Sarojini Naidu, one of the female freedom fighters of India earned the title ‘Nightingale of India’ from Mahatma Gandhi for her poetic skills. She studied in India till class 10th and later pursued higher education from different institutes abroad. She was enrolled at both King’s College in London and Girton College in Cambridge because she achieved a scholarship from the Nizam’s Charity Trust.
- Subhash Chandra Bose
Known for his famous quotation, “Give me your blood and I shall give you freedom”, Subhash Chandra bose is not unknown to Indians, as his struggle for India’s freedom showcases patriotism. He did his early education at Presidency College in West Bengal. Subash Chandra Bose later went to Cambridge to pursue a degree from Fitzwilliam College there.
