The Story Of Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganpati was fashioned by Goddess Parvati. She created Ganesha with her sandalwood paste in Lord Shiva’s absence and placed him under guard while she went to the bathroom. While she was away, Lord Shiva and Ganesha fought since Ganesha was not allowed inside as per his mother’s instructions.
Lord Shiva, furious, severed Ganesha’s head. When Parvati caught sight of this scene, she transformed into the goddess Kali and declared that she would end the world. Everyone was concerned about this and prayed to Lord Shiva to find a solution & subdue Goddess Kali’s fury.

Shiva then commanded all of his followers to run off and find a youngster whose mother is neglectfully turning her back on her child and return his head. The first infant spotted by the followers was an elephant, whose head was chopped off and given to Lord Shiva as instructed.
The head was instantly placed on Ganesha’s body by Lord Shiva, who then revived it. Goddess Parvati was once more overpowered as Maa Kali’s fury subsided. Ganesha received blessings from all the Lords, and this is why the day is still observed today.

Significance Of Ganesh Chaturthi
