Highlights
- Getting the most out of online shopping and transactions while avoiding scams and losses
- Implement security mechanisms such as OTP, strong passwords, and timely logouts
- An ingenious way to stay on top of internet security is to ensure secure online transactions.
We’re all heavily invested in the convenience of online shopping and online transactions, especially now that the pandemic is forcing us to do so. But, isn’t it true that security is paramount both online and offline? Let’s make a resolution to protect our money from going down the drain!
Swiping It Precisely!
1. The One-Time Safety
When making online payments, go with One-Time-Password (OTP) to avoid any security difficulties. For the most part, these pins are only valid for a limited period of time once payment processing begins, and you should never disclose your OTP to anyone. No reputable bank or financial institution will ever call a customer to request an OTP, so you’re safe and secure.
2. Don’t Bust The Trust
A simple approach to ensure safe transactions is to avoid linking one’s cards or bank accounts to every e-commerce program or platform they use and to always type the complete website with “https” rather than clicking on potentially fraudulent Google search results. It is fair to presume that the connection is secure if the address bar has a lock symbol and “https://” is in green.
3. Opt For Privacy
Public Wi-Fi networks, such as those found at airport security and cafés, or even a stranger’s device, are not the safest places to make online payments or enter personal information such as passwords and OTPs. If you’re outdoors, use your cellular data connection to complete any online transaction instead of using unsecured Wi-Fi.

4. Let Your Passwords Stand Out
It is critical to not only develop strong passwords but also to remember them for banking applications, e-commerce login credentials, and credit and debit card PINs. It should ideally be complicated, containing a variety of letters and alphabets, and unrelated to any previously known facts about you.
5. Unwind The Accounts
Avoid being signed in for too long or giving allowance to cookies from too many websites unless you’re certain of their safety. Make sure you’re clearing your cookies, caches, and other trash on a regular basis, as well as upgrading your passwords. Also, avoid saving passwords in any visible location on your phone and, if necessary, utilize lockable note apps.
