He was the second child of Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks. Lincoln was seven when his father shifted to Indiana to escape Slavery. There, his father and his family settled into the unbroken forest of Spencer County, Indiana. On October 5, 1818, young Abraham lost his mother at 9. After that, his elder sister Sarah was in charge of the household, including her father, little Abraham, and her mother’s orphan cousin. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough; he lost his sister while giving birth to a still-born child a decade later. This incident shook Abraham inside.
Later in 1819, his father married another woman, and within no time, he became very close to her stepmother. Since childhood, he has always been interested in reading, writing, scribbling, poetry, etc. In Indiana, he was enrolled in school where he could hardly manage to go as he was excessively occupied with his father on the farms.
When Abraham grew young, he shifted to Illinois at 21. There he became famous because of his wrestling skills and became the wrestling champion of the county at 21. In 1830, Lincoln built a house in New Salem, Illinois, where he stayed for about six years. There was the first time in 1832 when Abraham participated in politics by running into the Illinois General Assembly Election. He could draw a crowd for himself but lost the election due to a lack of education, power, and money.

But his debated and crowd speeches attracted the nation’s attention towards him, which is why the Republican party nominated his name for the presidential election of 1860.
He won the election with his views over the abolishment of Slavery and encouragement to free labor. He also belonged to a low-income family and had seen much more hardships of life than what other opposition leaders had experienced.
