Ahead of the refusal to stay the floor test orders issued by the Maharashtra Governor, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray resigned from his position as Maharashtra Chief Minister and MLA. What Is Happening In Maharashtra – A Political Crisis
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was formed through a multi-party alliance. The members of the alliance were Shiv Sena, Indian National Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Prahar Janshakti Party, and other independent MLAs headed by the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Sonia Gandhi, and Sharad Pawar. But, complications started brewing recently soon after a split was diagnosed in the party between the Shiv Sena members! Currently, the Shiv Sena has been bifurcated into two, one on the Uddhav’s side and the latter belonging to Ekanath Shinde. The current political crisis hints that about 39 members, among the 55 of the total Shiv Sainiks have turned their back on Uddhav Thackeray and are now entering into an alliance with the BJP!

Uddhav Thackeray Resigned?
Supreme Court Refused To Stay The Floor Test Orders
Soon after the split in the party, Eknath Shinde, along with his Shiv Sainiks left the alliance and headed to Surat – aided by the BJP leaders and initiated revolts against the Uddhav-led Maharashtra Government. Soon, they moved to different regions of India – Guwahati, and Assam, where they grew more in number and power which strengthened their protection furthermore! Taking advantage of the situation, opposition party members, headed by former Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis scheduled a meeting with the Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, and requested him to order a floor test to ask Uddhav to prove majority on the floor of the assembly!
Uddhav and his team, soon after the floor test orders were issued by the Governor, pleaded to the SC to stop the floor test proceedings only to return empty-handed. Thus, the Supreme Court has refused to stay the floor test.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Words
Realizing that he would not be able to prove confidence in the assembly, Uddhav Uddhav Thackeray resigned from his position as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Wednesday, 29th June 2022. He quoted, “I had come (to power) in an unexpected manner and I am going out in a similar fashion. I am not going away forever, I will be here, and I will once again sit in Shiv Sena Bhavan. I will gather all my people. I am resigning as the CM and as an MLC.”
The Fadnavis Is Expected To Return
Followed by Uddhav’s resignation from the Government as Maharashtra Chief Minister and MLA, celebrations began in the opposition BJP party! The State BJP Chief, Chandrakant Patil was snapped with former Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis enjoying sweets. In the words of Fadnavis, “We are in the process of staking a claim for formation of the government. It may take another 2-3 days to complete the formalities.”

Conclusion
Before leaving the premises, Uddhav Thackeray was found quoting, “Today, there was a cabinet meeting and I am satisfied that my life’s wish has been fulfilled. The initial idea of renaming Aurangabad, mooted by Shiv Sena Chief Balasaheb Thackeray, has been fulfilled and we have renamed it, Sambhaji Nagar. We have also renamed Osmanabad as Dharashiv.”
Meanwhile, the SC confirmed in its order that the floor test results would be subject to action against the 16 remaining Shiv Sena MLAs, against whom the disqualification notice has been allowed to stay till 11th July 2022. According to the SC, if the 16 MLAs are disqualified, then the new alliance between the BJP and the Eknath Shinde team will need to be formed, with independent legislators and smaller parties to form the new Government in Maharashtra!
