Buildings To Be Demolished For Central Vista By Modi Government

The Central Secretariat Project is an Rs. A 20,000-crore project that will entirely rebuild Delhi’s power corridor, which includes the construction of a new Parliament, new mansions for the prime minister and vice-president, and ten new building blocks to house government departments. The new Parliament will be made by the end of 2022, and the rest of the buildings will be completed by 2023, because of which these present buildings to be demolished for central Vista.

This includes the Vice President’s residence, which is now located near the National Museum and will be relocated to the north of the North Block. In contrast, the Prime Minister’s Office and the house will be built next to the South Block. All of the existing structures will be demolished. The current Ministry of External Affairs building, the Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, will be demolished to make room for a seven-story structure. Krishi Bhawan and Shastri Bhawan will also be razed and their contents relocated to the new secretariat. In place of the Vigyan Bhawan, a new conference hall will be built as part of the Central Vista project.

Buildings To Be Destroyed For Central Vista

A total of 4,58,820 square meters of buildings will be demolished for the Central Vista project, which includes the construction of a new Parliament, mansions for the Prime Minister and Vice President, and ten government office buildings.   1. IGNCA

Rajiv Gandhi established it as a resource center for studying arts on November 19, 1985, in commemoration of the late Prime Minister and his mother, Indira Gandhi. It is one of the buildings to be demolished for central Vista. IGNCA is located on Janpath, directly across from the National Archives. It is administered by the Ministry of Culture.

  1. Shastri Bhawan

It is named after Lal Bahadur Shastri, India’s second Prime Minister. Human Resources Development, Law & Justice, Information & Broadcasting, and Corporate Affairs are among the ministries of the Indian government that are housed in this huge structure.

It is located in Rajpath. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the Ministry of Rural Development, the Ministry of Animal Husbandry, and the Ministry of Fisheries are all part of this group.

The Government of India’s flagship convention center, Vigyan Bhawan, is located in New Delhi. Built-in year 1956, it has hosted national and international conferences, seminars, and award ceremonies attended by notable world leaders and dignitaries over the years.

  1. Vice President’s Home

On Maulana Azad Road, the Vice President’s Residence, where current Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu lives, is located. The mansion, which spans 6.48 acres and shares a boundary wall with Vigyan Bhawan, has a vast lawn at the front.

C. Rajagopalachari, India’s first Governor-General, opened the National Museum in Rashtrapati Bhawan on August 15, 1949. It was later relocated, and in May 1955, then-Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone for the current edifice on Janpath Road. Currently, the museum houses about 200,000 pieces of various kinds — both Indian and international — including the famed Harappa dancing girl, Buddha relics, Tanjore paintings, and many others. This further adds to the list of buildings to be demolished for Central Vista.

  1. Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan

This vast structure, with a built-up space of 60,000 sq meters, is a really state-of-the-art structure.

Nirman Bhawan is a government building in the Central Secretariat’s Rajpath Area that houses government ministries such as housing and urban affairs, health and family welfare, and the Department of Science and Technology.

Conclusion

All these twelve structures will be dismantled. Despite being criticized by the people as the idea of buildings to be demolished for central Vista is undergoing during the pandemic, Modi’s government is fully in motion with the project.
