The entire district is filled with palpable tension and the recent arrest of Priyanka Gandhi has added more fuel to the fire. The visit to the families has been possible after three long days. The protest in Lakhimpur Kheri was staged against the farm laws which have been passed in the government. The farmers’ protests have been continuing for a long time now. News Of Death In Lakhimpur Kheri Incident Case
According to the news which has been received till now, four farmers had been run over by the vehicles driven by the BJP workers. Among the eight people who had been killed on the same day, the other four included two BJP workers, a driver of one of the Union Ministers, and a journalist who was working for a private TV channel. The Union Minister who has been accused in this case is Ajay Kumar Mishra. It has also been alleged that his son was in the car which first ran over the protesting farmers on the street.
Decision By The Supreme Court
The Supreme Court stated on 6th October that they will take immediate notice of the violence which has been committed in the Lakhimpur Kheri district. The matter will be heard by Chief Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana and Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli on 7th October. The entire event will be treated with utmost consideration and urgency. The event has been horrific and the national outrage has reached the ears of the judiciary.
Steps Taken By Congress Leaders
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, was finally allowed to meet the bereaved families. The two had also met the family of the dead journalist, Raman Kashyap. He had lost his life in the midst of the violence caused in the Lakhimpur Kheri district. Priyanka Gandhi had tried her best to visit the family in the past as well. Her efforts landed her in detention in one of the guest houses in Sitapur over the last three days.
There are rising questions among the netizens about the actual happenings in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident case. There was a high voltage drama in the Lucknow district as well. Rahul Gandhi was asked by the UP police to let them escort him to the police vehicle, which he refused completely. After a brief period of dharna, he was allowed to leave the airport premises in his own car. The same had happened with Punjab Chief Minister Charanjeet Channi and Chattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghal as well.
Maharashtra Declares Bandh
In lieu of the entire incident, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra has declared a state-wide bandh on 11th October. The state chief of NCP in Maharashtra had agreed with the Shiv Sena and called the Maharashtra bandh a mark of protest in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident case.

Threats By Rakesh Tikait
The leader of BKU, Rakesh Tikait has asked for the resignation of Union Minister Ajay Mishra. He has set forward a warning that unless their demands are fulfilled in this case, there will be nationwide agitation from different farmers’ unions. This would take place within a week if the authorities do not comply with the wishes of the farmers.
Tikait has been one of the more prominent farmer leaders in the agitation which has been going on for a year now. The government has decided to give 45 lakh INR to the families of the deceased. Tikait has stated that their protest cannot be shut down on the basis of compensation.
Statement By Ajay Mishra
Ajay Mishra has stated that he is hoping for a fair probe into the matter which will bring the perpetrators to justice. At the same time, Rahul Gandhi has mentioned that dictatorship will no longer prevail in the country if the farmers are being attacked systematically. These remarks were made after he was denied entry into the Lakhimpur Kheri district.
