Why Did Congress Party Launch Bharat Jodo Yatra?
The Congress party hopes to rejuvenate itself through this march. The tagline of the march is ‘walk together, unite the country’. The Congress party has stated that it has organised Rahul Gandhi Bharat Jodo Abhiyan to abolish the division caused by economic disparities, social polarisation (due to caste, religion, language and lifestyle) and snatching of the state government’s rights by the central government.

Members Participating In Bharat Jodo Yatra
People from all over the country will participate in the Congress Bharat Jodo Yatra. Various leaders of the Congress party will also participate. Kanhaiya Kumar, Chandy Oommen and Pawan Khera are some of the prominent figures within the party that will accompany Rahul Gandhi.
Other than this, ‘voluntary yatris’ i.e anyone willing to participate can join the foot march when the already marching members reach the area near their home. Of course, this is not an exhaustive list of the members participating in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Criticism Of Bharat Jodo Yatra
The Rahul Gandhi Bharat Jodo Abhiyan has been criticised by other political parties as the Bharat Jodo Yatra route map does not pass through Gujarat, a BJP-dominated area. The other parties cried out that if the congress intended to unite India, they should have planned to march through Gujarat too. The members of the congress party retaliated by saying that they were trying to unite India and not campaign for election.
The intention of the Rahul Gandhi Bharat Jodo Abhiyan is good but how far it will prove to be effective remains to be seen. If the Yatra pays off, the congress party will indeed have a chance to unite the country. On the other hand, if it fails spectacularly, the party may become insignificant in the eyes of its rival parties. Either way, the Yatra will be a ‘landmark occasion’ as Sonia Gandhi said.
