Elizabeth II became Queen of England on the 2nd of June, 1953. Elizabeth II, the elder daughter of King George VI, was crowned queen of the United Kingdom at Westminster Abbey on this day in 1953, at the age of 27. She had inherited the throne following her father’s death in February 1952. Followed by Elizabeth’s tour to Africa, a day later the King was found dead by his servant on 6th February. The news of his death spread like wildfire and soon his daughter was made aware of her ailing father’s demise! With a heavy heart, she returned to her homeland to be crowned the Queen of England.
