The monsoon session of Parliament began this Monday. The government has designed a large legislative agenda which is to be discussed with the opposition. This monsoon session of the Parliament is going to be quite significant for the ruling party because the opposition has a large number of matters to raise questions on. This includes the alleged mismanagement of the entire Covid-19 pandemic. The farmers’ agitation has also been a part of the various topics regarding which a voice of dissent might be raised by the opposition parties.

Request For The Parties In Monsoon Session

Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu had announced on Saturday that the monsoon session of the Parliament must be held with decorum and good behavior. Naidu has asked repeatedly for a productive session this year. He has said that the members of the House must make sure that they have a smooth and proper session so that the concerns which are faced by the people in this pandemic are addressed.

Dysfunctionality Of The Government

The dysfunctional Parliament has added to the prevailing sadness and alarm which is taking over the country at the moment. On the other hand, it has also been announced by the farmers that they will be protesting in large numbers in front of the Parliament during the monsoon session. They have also urged leaders from the opposition to speak in support of the farmers and the problems they have been facing. This is going to be a strong issue during the monsoon session. It is not expected that the meetings will be completely free of commotion given that the government has performed very poorly in the state of Covid-19.
