It is one of the most important days that is celebrated to signify the control of the population on our Earth and celebrate the diversity that lies in the population. The day is celebrated on July 11th and tries to create consciousness about the rising human population throughout the world. We have to understand that the Earth has limited resources, and it is not possible for the population to rise indefinitely. India is the second most populated country after China, which has a much higher area within the boundaries of their country.
The United Nations have decided to set up a fund for population control and a strategy of population division which can help the agencies of both governmental and non-governmental origin to highlight the need for population control. They can also disseminate the information among the people who do not have ideas about population control measures.
History
The World Population Day was first designated in 1989 after the world reached the 5 billion mark in 1987. To increase awareness about the rising population on the face of the globe, the United Nations decided to designate 11th July as World Population Day. This day focuses on increasing knowledge about the population issues along with the relations to the environment.

Theme And Need
World population day is celebrated with a notion to highlight the need for population control and the difficulties that might arise if it is not controlled across the world. The progress of humanity might be stopped forever if the world is not able to control its population. The entire ecosystem will be disrupted when the population of human beings starts to rise without any control.
The theme of this year is the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on fertility. The impact of the disease on reproductive abilities has also been shown.
