Around 24 COVID patients in Nashik who were in a coma passed away after an oxygen tank leakage disrupted the supply of oxygen gas on Wednesday in Dr. Zakir Hussain Hospital in Nashik, Maharashtra.  Valve malfunction prompted disturbance of oxygen supply to COVID-19 patients in Nashik who were on life support.

Attributing the break to a valve breakdown, State Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that they made a significant level request to discover if carelessness had caused the tragic incident. Sources said the incident unfurled around 10 a.m. At that time, they were refilling the tank after the levels of oxygen went low. The massive leak caused the interruption in the crucial oxygen supply for at least 30 minutes. Mr.Tope said that 61 out of 157 patients in the emergency were in a severe condition and needed oxygen.

Officials Reaction

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, expressing sorrow over the tragic incident, announced: “The kin of each patient who passed away will get a remuneration of ₹5 lakh.”

Nashik Collector Suraj Mandhare said the tank belonged to a private merchant. “Professionals attempted to fix the valve when low pressure caused the spillage. It led to the demise of 24 severe condition patients supported by a ventilator. My deepest sympathies to the family of the dead,” he said. “As of now, other patients are being provided oxygen from the repaired tank. They are in a steady condition, according to medical specialists,” Mr. Mandhare said.

Association Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi likewise mourned the deaths of the patients. Mr. Gandhi requested the Maharashtra government to give all help to the affected.
