Ever since 2014, the Modi government is now fulfilling the seven years of the two tenures it is supposed to serve the nation. The catchphrase of this Gujarati politician is “Acche Din” or better days for the people. As the second tenure is looming to an end, we might take a look at what the central government had meant by “Achhe Din”. Was it a promise of better days for the people of the country or rather for a handful of people who got lucky in the elections?
In Manmohan Singh’s time, Narendra Modi along with his cronies had promised a state of Vikas or development throughout the country. The approach seemed to be very poor. Finally, when the Modi Government came to power, what has changed in the scenario? Let’s check them out!
Gross Domestic Product During Modi Government
During the times of Congress rule, GDP had fluctuations in its rate. Dr Manmohan Singh had tried to introduce a better economic system that met with a little applause. However, as the Modi government came to power, the Reserve Bank of India has stated that India is on a continuous downward spiral in terms of GDP. It is assumed that this has been caused due to the imposition of demonetization and GST.

Inflation In 7 Years
Inflation is something we Indians had forgotten about. The difference in price with the dollar was a bare 45 to 50 rupees. Most of it was available to the ones who had the better ways of living. However, as time passed, petrol and diesel prices started to increase rapidly across the entire nation. Recently, the price of petrol has reached an even 100 and diesel is in the lone to get through this. Oil prices have caught fire in 2020, and it seems that the fire cannot be doused soon.

In terms of women’s safety, job prospects, and educational requirements, all of these areas have met the same fate as prices and GDP. Therefore, it is time to question whether this was the Achhe Din that was promised by the Modi government. We would rather not be pessimistic but hope that things would change in the course of the next three years!
