Akshaya Tritiya Story In Mahabharat

One of the most well-known Mahabharata legends is the account of Akshaya Patra. Many sages came to visit the Pandavas while they were in exile. The Pandavas’ cottage was also the site of many councils and meetings. One day, Lord Krishna and a few of his companions paid a visit to the Pandavas. They sat down and began conversing till Krishna saw that Draupadi had failed to appear to greet them. He looked all throughout the cabin for her, only to discover her crying in the kitchen.

“This is all I have now in my kitchen, Krishna,” Draupadi responded after showing him the pot in which she had prepared rice that morning. She didn’t have any more rice in the hut to serve the guests outside because the rice pot was empty. Krishna took the rice pot and requested Draupadi to double-check that it was indeed empty. Draupadi took another look and noticed that one grain stuck to one side of the saucepan. Krishna advised her that a speck of rice presented in humility is sufficient to satiate the cosmos.

Lord Krishna grabbed the grain & put it in his mouth; not only he but every human being in the cosmos was satisfied at that instant. On the day of Akshaya Tritiya, this amazing incident occurred. Krishna is reported to have given her an ‘Akshaya Patra,’ an unlimited vessel that would assure that not only Pandavas but also visitors to the Pandavas, would never go hungry.
