Maa Kushmanda has eight hands that hold the kamandal, bow, arrow, lotus, trident, a jar of nectar, mace, and chakra. She rides on a lion. Kushmanda is a name made from three works, Ku meaning little, Ushma meaning warmth or energy, and Anda meaning egg. In a combined form, it means “The one who created this universe as a little cosmic egg” 

The Universe did not always exist. There was darkness everywhere until a ray of divine light appeared one day. The energy took the form of a lady soon and this lady is called Goddess Kushmanda. When Devi Kushmanda smiled, the darkness eloped and the Sun was created by her. She also created planets, stars, and galaxies, and thus she is the creator and resides at the center of the sun.

Puja Vidhi Of Goddess Kushmanda

Individuals have to bathe before beginning the puja and have to wear clean clothes. Maa Kushmanda is offered shringar samagri like sindoor, kajal, bangles, bindi, toe rings, mirrors, anklets, perfume, earrings, nose pin, necklace, red chunni, etc. Malpua, halwa, and curd are offered to Devi Kushmanda and later distributed as prasad to the devotees.
