  • The Taliban fighters have taken over the entire span of Afghanistan.

Since the Taliban forces have taken over Afghanistan, most of the countries are trying to get their citizens out of the doomed nation. India has not lagged behind in this case. The Indian Air Force, or IAF, has taken up a special flight program. The jets arrived in Kabul on Monday. The embassy staff, their families, and other Indians who were stranded in Afghanistan were evacuated by the IAF forces. Most people no longer consider Kabul or any place in Afghanistan to be safe anymore, as the Taliban forces have taken over the country. The Indian government will not put the life of the Indian citizens in Afghanistan at risk anymore. Hence, IAF planes had been deployed to rescue them.

Missions Undertaken By IAF Planes

IAF has deployed a fleet of the C-17 Globemaster military transport aircraft on standby in order to carry out the evacuation process. One of these jets went to Kabul on Sunday and returned with a load of passengers on Monday morning. The other took off on Monday and was expected to come back on the same day, during the evening hours. However, the jet had to be redirected to Tajikistan. This was mostly because the situation at the Kabul airport was completely chaotic. The jet later landed in Kabul and helped to evacuate the Indian citizens.

It has been announced by IAF that almost 200 Indian officials are still stranded in Taliban-occupied Afghanistan, waiting to be rescued. They have also informed that the major problem was not in taking them back to India, but in bringing them to Kabul airport from different places. Taking the staff from the compound of the embassy and getting them into the Kabul airport has turned out to be challenging work for the rescue teams in Afghanistan.
